"It was a fast tempo game, everyone was talking trash to each other even the bench players. I believe it started when some calls weren't made that were supposed to, and guys became upset and had to express their feelings. It's one of those days that you'd wish you can re-do, and prevent this from happening ever again" said Nets guard Jason Richardson. The game's first foul was called at 11:55, 5 seconds after the whistle blew, a foul on Jamaal Magloire. He later than received a technical for talking bad to in game referee Michael Chester, but remained calm until 3 minutes left in the game. On the other side, Lakers superstar Kobe Bryant was calling for fouls throughout the game, going to the line 12 times, he still felt a lot weren't called. With 3 minutes left in the game, Kobe crosses over Larry Hughes, spins away from Shareef and attempts a layup over Jamaal Magloire, who unintentionally bumps hard into Kobe and send his shot back into the crowd. "Kobe Bryant is a class act guy, I never expected this from Kobe", says teammate Sean May. "Professional athletes learn how to deal with different situations under pressure, and no matter what, never trigger the wrong bullet". After Kobe landed hard on his back, the entire arena went silent, and teammate Michael Redd and opposing player Steve Francis rushed the floor to see if he's alright. He stood up by himself and ran towards Magloire. The rest is history. Camera angles show Kobe Bryant landing 1 punch to Magloires jaw, and then both collapsing to the floor as both benches clear to try and stop the fight. League Comissioners Brandon Terell and Enes Zunic have made it very clear that during situations like these, the bench cannot step onto the court. But as Kobe and Jamaal fell with each other, they fell into the camera men, outside of the court, so suspensions for the bench players will need to be rethought. Enes Zunic and Brandon Terrell have released an official statement regarding the brawl... "We feel that it was an unfortunate event that happened in New Jersey that night, and we both agree that a 12 day suspension is enough for these players. They are role models for kids, and this is not something they need to look up to. UBL is all about professionalism, acts like this is strictly prohibited."Both Kobe Bryant and Jamaal Magloire are important keys to their team, and they will surely be missed. The Nets are 1.5 games out of homecourt advantage, and the Lakers' hope for a playoff seed gets even dimmer. The reason that the suspensions came late is because investigators were studying who really initiated the fight, and the talk about the penalty lasted for a few days aswell. Now the Nets are without a big man, and the Lakers are without their go-to guy. Both teams received a huge blow because of a 1 minute fight. We will sit down and talk to both Kobe Bryant and Jamaal Magloire later this week, to find out what went wrong, and was it really worth it. Stay tuned.

WTF??? Jamaal Magloire is gone for 12 days? Disappointing to say the least. We r going to miss his 16,11 every night. We were starting to get our act together, winning 14 of 19 and looking good for the playoffs. Now something like this happens, and w/ Reef out for a few more days, we have to look to our backups in Nenad Krtsic and Kenny Thomas, who both have been tremendous this year. OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM JAMAAL MAGLOIREI apologize to my teammates, family, and fans for the inappropiate behavior I showed last week when we played the Los Angeles Lakers. The situation got out of hand and things were said and punches were thrown, which is something that has no part in our game. I sincerely hope that once the suspension is served, you will be able to support me once again and not hold this against me. If not, than I respect your decision. Once again, I am truly sorry for these inexcusable actions that we displayed last week. Comments from New Jersey Net PlayersSteve Francis I know I shouldn't say this, but I will. Kobe's a punk, man. This whole situation was his f***ing fault. Yah you heard me. Print it. I dont care. The man's got problems. Hes a cry baby. He f***ing punked Jamaal cause he got a couple hard fouls. Big Deal. Its part [of the] game. Shaq is right bout Kobe. The guys got problems man. Why the f**k do you punch someone like that man. Why?? All I can say is, when we face the Lakers next, watch out Kobe. Theres a target on your back man, and thats all I gotta say.The opinion of Steve Francis does not reflect the opinion of the New Jersey Nets organization
