The UBL’s Most Hated Backcourt
In Indiana 3 Special Players Run The Team. All 3 are below 27, with one of them being 21. Those 3 players are point guard Darius Washington, shooting guard Rashad McCants, and guard/forward Danny Granger. Combined those 3 average 73 points a game. 2 of those players are 4th and 7th in the league in 3 pointers attempted per game. With D-Wash putting up a bulk of those with 33points per game, R-Mac averaging 24 and D-Grange doing his thing off the bench with 16 points among other stats. Some say this is the year for Indiana and its young gunning point guard. Darius Washington, D-Wash as his team calls him, was considered a BUST after his poor performance in pre-season his rookie season. Indiana gave up Michael Redd to take a chance on this young wild player even though labeled a bust, KidYungn saw something in him. By sending him down to the UBDL for 2 seasons, Darius Washington improved his game GREATLY, proving the value of Indiana’s farm team. Instead of averaging 8ppg, he now averages 33points. Which is good for 3rd in the league in scoring after leading the league in scoring the 1st sim. This man is the next Allen Iverson, the next Kobe Bryant, the next…the future..the present …Darius Washington. D-wash is not a brick layer either, shooting 47% from the field, 89% from the stripe and 44% from 3.
D-Wash is playing for the scoring title this season.
Joining Darius Washington in Indiana’s backcourt, is newly acquired free agent from Memphis, Rashad Mccants. Mccants was not expected to sign with Indiana, after all the speculation revolving around Indiana and Elton Brand agreeing to a deal, we figured that Mccants would return to Memphis But when Brand signed with his former team Los Angeles Clippers and Mccants came to Indiana for 39million dollars over 6 seasons. R-Mac is now having one of his best seasons shooting 51% from the field and 41% from 3. It seems he is in the perfect offense to fully expose his talents when D-Wash drives. Rashad scored 14 points and grabbed 7 boards against his former team in a 6point win. When asked why he chose to sign with Indiana R-Mac replied with “ I was sick of Memphis. I wanted to come to a team with a winning mentality and a bright future. No other team does that like Indiana. Winning franchise that is willing to wait for players to reach their full potential. I love it.” Indiana loves you back R-Mac.
Rashad hopes to add a UBL title to his collection this season.
Now a man who needs no introduction, Danny Granger. Who spent 1 year in the UBDL before EXPLODING onto the UBL scene with a monstrous “rookie” season. Where he averaged a near triple double the entire season playing point guard. But being over looked on all star ballots, mvp votes and first, second and third teams. The beginning of the UBDL South Bend Hustlers success. This man is a monster still. Playing a different role as he comes off the bench now. Averaging 16 points and 7 rebounds per game, D-Grange is a canidate for 6th man of the year, and a damn good one. But with his recent over looked problems, will he be over looked again?
Danny loves Indiana.
And to think, many thought the Pacers had to many guards and forwards to be considered a good team. BOY are they wrong. The Pacers are 13-7 this year, 2nd in the east, 1st in their division.
