I was doing some research on the draft and came across an idea I thought would make the UBL draft very realistic. As you know teams have work-outs with players and private work outs. The idea I have is this . .
Immediately after the lottery has been simmed, I use a random number generator to give me 3 numbers between 1-29. If say 12, 22 and 28 are selected, teams with those picks are given exclusive rights to hold a private work out for any player who is available at draft time.
Holding a private draft work out will give you the power to view any 5 catogories (numerical rating) of the players game. The last team selected (in this case, 28), also get 5 catogories to select, PLUS they get a 10 point range of the players potential. So if their potential is 90, and they ask for it, I could either give them 99, 94, 91, 89 or 81. (This may change to 5-7 points, depends on what you guys think). If the team with pick 28 asks for Rudy Gay's potential and catogory ratings, they will be denied for obvious reasons.
So, what does everyone think? I mean, this could turn out to be a really good idea IMO.

yeah, thats cool...but only 3?
maybe if it was more and/or everyone i could see how ppl would cheat the system and ask diff ratigns of one guy to find out exactly how good one is, but that wudnt really hurt shit much anyway....
and potential within 10 is a big range of difference

Only 3 catogories gives a GM a look at a player, however not so much as a detailed look. And, a player can only attend 1 private work out so you cannot uncover their whole rating ability. As pointed out, if a team with the 15th pick wants to scout Rudy Gay, ot give himn a private work out, he will not attend as he will see it as a waste of time.
Anyone else have anymore opinions?

Well, if you get a bust with the 23rd pick, who cares? (Bilal)
Unless we have an amazing turn of events and the random number generator gives me 1, 2 and 3, then yeah, we could have a problem, but otherwise it should be cool.

I dont see a problem with later teams scouting higher prospects....maybe they want to know what theyll be getting and explore trade options. If not-they just wasted their private workout so no loss there I dont think. As far as numbers-Id say 4 teams and 4 categories but thats just my 2 cents worth.

If the player rejects the team's offer to workout, can the team still offer to 3 other players or is one of their workouts wasted?
