Private Work Outs
To persue even more realism than ever before, the UBL will now allow 4 lucky teams to hold private player work outs with any player from the upcoming draft class after the lottery has been simulated. Here is how it works.
1) Using a random number generator (http://www.random.org/nform.html), 4 numbers between 1 and 29 will be generated. Each number will represent a pick. For example, if the numbers 12, 15, 21 and 27 are selected, the teams that hold the above picks will be given the opportunity to conduct a private work out session.
2) The lucky 4 teams selected will be given 4 opportunities to scout any 4 catogories of a single players game in numerical format. Catogories include inside scoring, jump shot, perimiter defense, handles, quickness, shot blocking, stealing, offensive rebounding and more. Any catogory can be selected except for potential.
3) However, the team with the last pick that is selected (in our example, 27) will also be given an opportunity to scout 4 catogories of a players game aswell as a 7 point range of a players potential. For example, if the team with pick 27 wants to scout player Fred Bloggs potential (which is really 85), the team could be given a number anywhere between 92 and 78.
4) Before I conclude outlining the rules of a private work out, there are a few more things I must cover. Not every player will be available for a private work out. Some players may be recovering from an injury, in another country or have simply vowed not to work out. This will occur on a very rare basis and to avoid confusion, the players name/s will be PM'ed to the leagues commish before players are asked to work out. If you some how select a player who does not want to work out, you lose the rights to hold one.
5) Also, teams can be dennied a player work out on several grounds by myself. For example, if team 27 in our example wants to view and scout Greg Oden (consensus no. 1 pick), their request will be rejected as their is no way that Oden will fall that far, and the information that would receive could be used to cheat.
6) Regarding cheating, it cannot be stopped. This process will only work if everyone vowes to be honest. Giving up rare information isnt a smart idea anyway as if can be used to your advantage. Anyone that is caught cheating will be dealt with accordingly.
To break it down once more, heres a quick example.
1) Random number generator gives me the numbers 5, 12, 15 and 21. Team 21 decides to hold a private work out for prospect Fred Bloggs who accepts the invitation.
2) Inside scoring, jump shot, 3 point shot, handles and quickness are the requested catogories to be scouted. They are given to the GM like this.
Inside Scoring: 77
Jump Shot: 33
3 Point Shot: 55
Handles: 99
Quickness: 21
3) As this team holds the last pick of all the teams selected, the 7 point potential range will be given like this.
Fred Bloggs Scouted Potential: 81
4) The GM can now use this information to their advantage in drafting.
