Game 1
The tournamenr began with the Heat notching up a 91-89 win against the Celtics. DeAndre Jordans 32 point (13/29), 19 rebound, 2 assist performance was the best of the game and helped the Heat take game 1. Starting shooting guard Nasir Robinson chipped in with 19 points and 7 rebounds, whilst premier point OJ Mayo notched up only 10 points along with 8 assists; in only 16 minutes. What could he do in 45? Dwyane Collins had a very nice game, putting 7 and 11 on the statisticians score sheet. Backup point guard Greg Paulus who saw 30 minutes in front of Mayo went for a satisfying 7 points, 11 assists and only 1 turnover for the Heat. Bill Walker was the best Celtic performer laying down 25 points (10/16), 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Fellow front court partner Tywon Lawson finished with a solid 16 points, 7 assists and 4 rebounds. Starting center Demetrius Jemison concluded a great game with a nasty 9 points, 16 rebound and 3 steal performance.
Game 2
The second game of the tournament saw the Celtics take one back, defeating the Heat by a meer 1 point. Bill Walker once again stared for the Celtics, notching up 25 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists in 45 minutes of play. Tywon Lawson stared on the offensive end (unlike the defensive) by putting up 19 points, 13 assists, 4 rebounds and 4 steals. Demetrius Jemisons stock continued to rise as he put in another rock solid game going for 12 points and 11 rebounds. Potential top 5 pick Samardo Samuels had a quiet yet lethal game with 11 points, 18 rebounds and 3 blocks. Although his team lost, the game belonged to OJ Mayo who played through a sore back (which kept him out of game 1) and put up a tantalising 40 points (16/25), 11 rebounds, 8 assists and 3 steal performance. Mayo's smooth transition play and ability to hit the odd three pointer made him deadly. Team mate DeAndre Jordan had a sensational follow up game putting up 18, 12, 5 assists amd 3 steals, he really is looking like a lock for the top 5, even top 3.
Game 3
Game 3 saw a rediculous blow out with the Celtics taking a huge 117-82 win over the lack luster and often lazy Celtics. Samardo Samuels asserted his position as a mystery and wild card player by finishing with 25 points, 20 rebounds and 5 assists. Tywon Lawson finished with an impressive 25 points, 6 steals and 5 assists. Bill Walker had an easy 18 point and 6 rebound performance. From the often out numbered and slow paced Celtics, point guard OJ Mayo finished with 22 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds. Partner in crime DeAndre Jordan who developed a strong relationship with Mayo over the course of the tournament put up 21 and 8 whilst Nasir Robinson concluded the tournaments games with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists.
Tournament MVP: Bill Walker - Led his team to the tournament win and contributed 3 solid performances all of which earned him the MVP trophy. OJ Mayo finished runner up with DeAndre Jordan not far behind.
