Draft prospects took each other on one on one. No possesion, win by two, fouls, count by ones, first to 11.
Game 1: Tasmin Mitchell 11-5 Olu Ahsalou
The sheer power and aggressiveness that has characterised Mithcell throughout his Collegiate career was on full display in his one on one match against Olu Ashalou at the pre draft work outs. Mitchell was to strong offensivly and defensivly which led Olu shooting from the outside and not looking to make any attempts into taking the ball into the key.
Game 2: Kyle Luckett 11-3 DeShaun Thomas
Luckett, possibly the best shot blocking basketball prospect ever swatted Thomas 7 times on route to an 11-3 white wash. Luckett had the post moves as well as some nice explosions to the basket off the dribble. Although DeShaun got his game handed too him, many scouts were impressed with his skill set. He is very raw, however looks to be a player who can improve rapidly in a short period of time if placed in the right environment.
Game 3: Antoine Diot 11-7 Giorgi Gaprindashvilli
Diot took home the battle of the International prospect after defeating Giorgi Gaprindashvilli 11-7. Diot held onto the ball well and made very few errors. Scous identified him as a top 10 prospect not only due to the skills he posseses, however also the potential to get better as a player. Gaprindashvilli didnt impress many scouts as his points were scored mostly off quick jump shots after a Diot miss.
Game 4: Walter Offut 11-9 Stevie Taylor
The much touted and hyped Stevie Taylor went down in his first one on one match against fellow lottery prospect Walter Offut in what turned out to be the game of the tournament. Taylor was very impressive in the defeat showing on lookers how good of a point guard he was by getting to the rack easily (where he could have dished the ball off) and hitting the open jump shot and 3 pointer when given to him. Offut used his athletisism and power to beat the younger and smaller Gibson. Even with the victory, many beleive Taylor will be picked before Offut in the draft.
Players were given free choice to pair up with someone.
Game 1:Korie Lucious and Jamerison Sterns 11-4 Ashley Orr and Patrick Mills
Korie Lucious and the high flying Jamerison "Showtime" Sterns defeated the Australian duo of Ashley Orr and Pat Mills 11-4 in the days first 2 on 2 matchup. Lucious was sensational in the victory handing the ball off in the air to Sterns on numerious occasions for the amazing slam dunk. Sterns also displayed his shot blocking ability. Orr was medicore (didnt mean to rhyme) in the match and tended to leave the ball to Mills to score himself. Overall, an entertaining game, yet one that didnt reflect the true skill set of Sterns or Lucious due to the lack of competition.
Game 2: Melvin Tabb and Vladimir Dasic 11-9 Derrick Favors and Joakim Noah
Tabb was amazing in this teams 11-9 victory over potential lottery pick Derrick Favors and Joakim Noah. Tabb scored all 11 points in the win, all from the post, dazzling scouts with his array of post moves and sheer power. Favors was also greatm scoring 6 of the teams 9 including 2 nice dunks and a nifty turn around jump shot.
Three participants paired up with one another to form a series of 3 on 3 games. First to 25 counting by ones.
Game 1 - Terrell McKenzie, Kim Jin Soo and Jeffrey Jordan 25-21 Taylor King, Eric Boateng and Curtis Kelly
McKenzie solidified his position as a top 2 pick this game scoring 20 of the teams 25 points and burning every opponent put on him. Although McKenzie was fantastic, Jin Soo provided him wih 13 of his points from assists (Jin Soo had 13 assists) and Jeffrey Jordan nailed 3 points and looked very promising. Taylor King was amazing from behind the arch and Curtis Kelly showed an incredible amount of promise. Boateng was solid however did not stand out in the game.
