The league is traveling along quite smoothly at the moment. We (Play and I) believe that in order to make the UBL the best and most unique sim league on the internet, adding another inimitable feature to the league can only make its chances stronger especially following a fantasy basketball first Olympic Tournament (which will be continuing very soon), 32 Man One on One Tournament and a single dedicated web site to the ever anticipated UBL Draft.
Our idea is to hold an Expansion Draft similar to the one held in the real NBA that brought in the Charlotte Bobcats Franchise. Play and I have heavily analyzed each UBL team and their corresponding GM’s history in order to make a harsh yet much needed decision. The GM will be fired and the team de-assembled to make way for the newest and hopefully brightest UBL franchise.
As the ideal expansion teams GM was recently fired, the once Atlanta Hawks will be transformed into the St Louis Spirit, led by sim league veteran and experienced FBB user DDu37. The Spirit will join the Cardinals and Rams as the third national sporting team in the city of St Louis.
All of the players on the existing team’s roster will be put into the upcoming free agent pool. They will not be available for selection by the new franchise. Every other UBL team will be then given the opportunity to protect 7 players and leave the rest open for the new teams taking. An expansion draft will be held in where the new franchise will be given 12 picks to select any players they desire within the 12 man limit from the expansion pool of unprotected players. On top of this, the new team will also be given the 4th pick in the proceeding draft to help them on their way into the future.
We hope this will bring much excitement and anticipation to the league as it has brought us. We look forward to your input and opinions.
