With this years free agency class being a lot stronger than either the UBL or the NBA before it has ever been, many players who would usually score themselves a $70 million 6 year contract are left bidless as many of the teams with the cash to offer have their eyes on bigger fish. Tim Duncan, Brad Miller, Jermaine O'Neal, Sergio Rodriguez, Daniel Gibson, Carlos Boozer, Pau Gasol and Larry Hughes are amongst those bound to receive a hefty pay check.
FA Rumours: Day 1
After Tim Duncan came out of closed doors yesterday after meeting New Orleans management, the smile on his face indicated the UBL's most powerful weapon may be staying home this free agency period.
Both drafted in the 2006 draft, point men Sergio Rodriguez and Daniel Gibson, arch and bitter rivals are both set and ready to head off to the UBL's newest franchise, the St. Louis Spirit. Gibson is keen to be the teams franchise player and team up with Stevie Taylor whilst the large amount sent to Rodriguez has the young Spaniad wanting to come to the once Atlanta Hawks. An offer from Cleveland has yet to be received for Rodriguez.
Brendan Haywood visited Dallas this weekend and had a private work out with the teams training staff. Coaches and assistants were all very impressed with Haywoods efforts. Brendan also went to Boston and Minnesota.
Al Horford, just like Gibson and Rodriguez has indicated he would like to be a part of the new and exciting Spirit franchise. Horford has also reported saying both Dallas and Minnesota bring incredibly strong interest.
