Indiana Pacers send their two most recent drafted players down to the UBDL team, South Bend Hustlers. Those 2 players are Michigan States Erazem Lorbek, a 2nd round pick, and New Meixcos Danny Granger, #17 over all. Erazem wasn’t going to get a lot of playing time this season, so sending him to the UBDL was understandable. But sending Danny Granger is not. This team selected him to come in and contribute immediately but with the acquisation of Quentin Richardson he lost his starting role So sending him to UBDL will only make him that much better when the Indiana Pacers need him. Now Danny Granger did only average around 7pts a game in preseason, so that could be a reason the Pacers wanted to send Danny somewhere he could develop more. Playing against lower talent of the UBL will not help that much, but it will help some. Danny will be the leader of his team and will need to show what he can do and if he can perform the 1st season of UBDL then im sure Indiana will bring him back where he belongs. Danny Granger is one of the bigger name players that is having his role reduced from UBL to UBDL. Other big name players include: TJ FORD, DORRELL WRIGHT, KIRK SNYDER, WAYNE SIMIEN to name a few. So Danny will face some good competition while he is there. This will be a learning phase for both Lorbek and Granger and both will benefit greatly. With the send-down of Granger, Jonathan Bender will be given the minutes Granger would have had. Which is good because Bender has underperformed his whole career and he is going to get some ok minutes this season to hopefully shine when its time to.
