After getting knocked out the first round of the playoffs last postseason, it was time to rebuild the Pistons.
Move #1
Resigned Ben Wallace to a 4yr Max Deal
Move #2
Pistons Trade: Ben Wallace
Lakers Trade: Andrew Bynum + 2007 First
Andrew Bynum gave the Pistons a immediate piece to rebuild around, at 19 years old Bynum had a incredible training camp with the Lakers. GM Bilal has repeatedly stated that he will look to place Bynum in the UBDL this season and possibly even send him to a big man camp. This giant should be the star of this team in a few seasons. With Ben Wallace turning 32 next season, there wasnt much point to keeping him on a rebuilding squad.
Move #3
Pistons Trade: Chauncey Billups
Blazers Trade: Nene Hilario, Travis Outlaw, 2007 First
Chauncey had no reason to be on this team, the pistons are looking to rebuild which means one thing... LOSE. Travis Outlaw looks to be studly with solid defense and A potential, Nene and the First were also nice additions to the trade. The Pistons may try to trade of Nene for another first, as Darko and Bynum look to be the future frontcourt of the Pistons.
Move #4
Pistons Trade: Antonio McDyess
Jazz Trade: Gordon Giricek, Vet FA
Dice had a lengthy contract, and GM Bilal feared that he would win the Pistons some games. Giricek is nice and shitty and chops a year off Dice's contract. McDyess wont be missed.
Move #5
Pistons Trade: Richard Hamilton
Heat Trade: Charlie Villanueva. Raptors 07 first(protection)
Hamilton needed to go, on this shitty pistons team he would of put up 25ppg. Villanueva is a great prospect and will probably be a very solid player in this league if not a star. This deal cleared about 6 million in cap for the Pistons, and the Raptors pick was a nice bonus although it may not be availble for a season or two.
Move #6
Pistons Trade: Jason Maxiell
Cavs Trade: Josh Childress
Straight up swap here, the idea of having a 6'7 center didnt excite the coaching staff at Detroit too much. The Pistons also lacked depth at SG/SF, Childress should be promising for years to come. "A guy like Childress can do so much on the basketball court, with Charlie they should form possibly one of the best all-around SG/SF combos in the league given a few years.
Players on the block
Rasheed Wallace:
He is not needed on this team. After all his teammates were traded Sheed has repeatedly asked for trade. The Pistons are looking for first round picks, expiring contracts/2yr deals, and young studs for Wallace.
Carlos Arroyo:
Arroyo doesnt fit the Pistons plans at all, he is looking to be shipped out of Detroit for any first round pick.
Nene:
With Bynum and Darko already set, Nene is looking to head out for any first round pick.
